37 Suspects Killed, 220 Arrested In 9 Months

Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has killed 37 armed robbers and arrested over 200 robbery suspects in various operations in the first three quarters of 2014.

This was disclosed yesterday by the Commissioner for Police in the state, Ikemefuna Okoye, at the Eleweran headquartees of the Command, while parading suspects arrested for offences ranging from robbery to cultism.

The largest number of suspects on parade was 31.

Ikemefuna said his men arrested the suspects at a hotel during initiation into secret cult.

The banner recovered from the suspects had a picture of a bird with the inscription, ‘National Association of Airlords, Determination Regime’.

The commissioner for Police further stated that the location of arrest was known to be a notorious spot, saying his men acted on information and were able to arrest the suspected cultists.

“Based on information received by Obantoko Division that some suspected cultists belonging to EYE Confraternity were having initiation ceremonu at Bolif Hotel, Obantoko area, on receipt of the information, detectives attached to Obantoko Division swung into action and raced to the scene where 31 suspected cultists were arrested,” Ikemefuna said.

The police boss equally informed journalists that 170 arms, 1777 ammunitions and 116 vehicles were recovered during the period under review.

According to him, over one N100 million worth of property was also recovered by his command.
